It’s my third week doing Fun Fact Friday, a weekly blog party, hosted by Scribbles & Sprinkles.

You can join in too!

Here’s what to do:

  • On a given Friday, tell us a fun fact.
  • What is a fun fact?
    -
    Likes or Dislikes?
    - “I have never….”
    - General Knowledge or “Did you Know…”
    - Throw back to past memories! Childhood momentos? Photos?
  • Copy and paste the button, then link back!

This week I am going to share some of the movies I watched and loved growing up!

Fact: I watched a whole lot of Disney as a kid!

My favorite animated movie as a kid - American Tail!

My favorite animated movie as a kid was An American Tail! Surprisingly, it is *not* Disney!

My sister and I loved Haley Mills' movies, including Pollyanna and The Parent Trap.

We watched the original 1949 movie, Little Women soooo many times! Loved it.

This movie, For the Love of Willadean, was a boyish movie I adored!

Swiss Family Robinson - SUCH a good summer movie! I still watch it every summer with my kids.

I was born and raised in Michigan, so you'd think Gone With the Wind wouldn't hold much appeal to me, but it was one of my favorites from the time that I was 10yrs old or so!

I don't know what it was, but I absolutely loveed Amadeus as an older child/teen! It started my love of Mozart's music too. :)

Those are some of my all time favorites too! I’m going to have to go locate my copy of Pollyanna now! ;)

  2. It is so creepy how close my list of movies would be to yours! Disney was my LIFE growing up and I can never get enough :)

    • Valerie says:

Haha! Disney was my life too. Thank goodness we always had the Disney Channel! These days we don’t have cable because it isn’t worth it, in my opinion. The good shows/movies have already been made and are available on dvd! ;)

Okay, I personally own Amadeus! It is an awesome movie! Parent Trap was definitely one of my favorites growing as well as the old Freaky Friday.

    • Valerie says:

I knew I liked you!!! lol I still adore the movie, and I’ve never met anyone else who did (or had even heard of it!) Oh, yes, we loved Freaky Friday too!! My kids like the “new” one. I need to find the original sometime so they can watch it!

  4. OMG POLLYANNA!!! I LOVED HER!!!

Also, Lady and the Tramp even thought it was a little well, politically incorrect. Valerie I started the fun, facts, friday , but I didn’t know how to paste it back to you and Scribbles and Sprinkles.

  10. Love Disney movies! I was so excited when my kids started getting old enough to give me a real excuse to go to the theater to see them again! (although, they totally don’t make any as good as the old ones anymore). And, obviously God knew you would end up in Atlanta and that’s why you love GWTW! Now you’re a GA peach too! :)

    • Valerie says:

I wish they WOULD come out with some more great kids’ movies! I like going to the theater but it’s so rare that there is anything I can take them to. :/
Hehe, I guess so! There is a Gone With the Wind museum in our town!!! It was here, in this town, that Margaret Mitchell got her inspiration for the fictional plantation, Tara. :D (Remember I don’t actually live in Atlanta)

      • Hey, you live in the South and the entire state of Georgia is basically a Gone With The Wind memorial! :) I have actually been to that museum when I was younger! My stepdad’s extended family vacations at different places in Georgia after Christmas each year and has done it for years so my mom and I always tried to find the cool museums like that. We also had fun in the Fried Green Tomatoes museum :) Can’t be a true Southerner without loving that movie too! haha. I love Georgia because no matter how small the city, there is always something historic around to see. I was born and raised in North Florida and that’s essentially an extension of South Georgia (literally less than 30 minutes to the border) :)

      • Valerie says:

That’s so cool! Haven’t been to the Fried Green Tomatoes one – where is it? :)

      • I think Juliette? I’ll have to look it up because it has been a long time. My mom went there last year though and brought me a picture from the Whistle Stop Cafe and she was so excited about it :)

  11. Ohhh I love American Tail! When they sing ‘Somewhere Out There’, how can anyone not cry a river, am I right?

    • Valerie says:

Oh yes, I LOVE the music in it!! That song always made me tear up. And at the end, when his family finds him and the father hugs him?! OH MY, so emotional!!! :D
