Mommy Workouts and a Giveaway!
February 18, 2013 12 Comments
As a busy mom, I know how much of a challenge it can be to make time for myself and exercise on a regular basis. It is so important, though! It’s important for me to feel good and be healthy, and it’s also an important part of my marriage (if you haven’t already read Becoming the Sexy Wife Parts 1 and 2, please do!
)
The keys that have ”opened the door” to fitness, for me, have been:
- Find in-home workouts that I love (or at least like a lot!)
- Plan occasional trips to the gym so I truly have some “me time” out of the house.
- Have a few outfits that are cute to wear when exercising so I can feel upbeat when doing my routines.
- Change up the workouts so I don’t get bored.
- Have motivators like friendships/partners found in real life or online at sites like Sparkpeople.
Today I’d like to share some of the in-home workouts I do on a regular basis:
Leslie Sansone of Walk At Home is my favorite fitness person and her dvds are at the top of my list! Here are the dvds I have, as well as a few videos I’ve found online so you can get an idea of what her workouts are like:

I also love Debbie Siebers’ Slim In 6 dvds. I admit I am unable to do plenty of the exercises, but I love what I CAN do from them!
These are higher impact aerobics workouts plus strengthening.
- Start It Up
- Ramp It Up
- Burn It Up
- Slim & Limber
- Slim 6-Pack
Crunch videos are ones I pull out from time to time too. They are big calorie burners and a great change to my routine if I am getting bored with Ms Sansone (sorry, Leslie!)
And here is a fun one to do with the kids! Perfect for children 4-10 years old ( and older or younger, depending on your child’s interest). There is an aerobic segment, a strengthening one, and even a family workout where you have a partner!

And now, onto the Giveaway!!
I’d like to hear how you workout at home!
Do you use dvds, have exercise equipment, go outside and walk with the baby?
When you comment and share what you do AT HOME to get/keep fit, you will be entered for a chance to win this dvd:
Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home
5 Day Slim Down
This is a gently used copy of mine that doesn’t get the use it deserves because I own/use so many others, so I thought I’d pass it along to a blog friend!
You have from February 18th-24th to enter! The drawing will be done on Monday, February 25th and announced the same day. I will also notify the winner via email. And you don’t need to be a mommy to enter! You just need to be an exerciser!! Even if the last time you worked out was 6 months ago, please feel free to enter
Good luck!!

A giveaway!!!! Awesome! I usually take my workout outside by taking a walk with the stroller or a slow jog. I would like to try workout DVD’s but I don’t have any and the ones I have checked out from the library require too much coordination. Ha Ha!
Walking is a great way to get activity! It’s my favorite!!
Thanks, Christine.
I love Leslie Sansone’s DVD’s! I actually work out to her DVD’s and have just recently started walking at least one mile a day via her DVD. I have to borrow my sister’s Leslie Sansone DVD’s and would love to own my own copy!!
Gotta love Leslie! Thanks.
What a great idea and a generous giveaway!
Thanks, do *you* workout at home?
I once attempted to do a dance workout video until I thought I was having a heart attack and looking anything but sexy. Now I just chase my little one around and I am staying fit! haha!
Would you try a walking dvd if you had one? Or you prefer just normal daily activity?
Btw, I am not a dncer and can’t follow those workouts either!!
I probably wouldn’t only because I am exhausted by the end of the day (which is the only time I would have to do it) but I think it’s great that you are doing this as a giveaway because I know whoever does win it will love it!
to be able to work out by walking sounds a lot easier than so many other workout regimens!
Gotcha!
Yes, it’s much easier than MANY aerobic routines I’ve seen/tried!
At ‘home’ workouts is taking that double stroller outside and going for a brisk walk. Love the bonus of getting some air too! I have a salsa dvd from pre-pregnancy days but with all the baby stuff everywhere I’m too scared of tripping up if I start dancing around the room to do it…!
Haha, I hear ya witht he baby toys everywhere!
The walking dvds are pretty safe because you don’t travel all around the room doing the moves. Most things are done in place (walking, kicks, knee-lifts, etc). Briskly walking outside is a great exercise! And it get you out of the house and includes the kids!
